Dinner

On Wednesday 3 June 2009, Richard Gill OAM was the guest of honour and speaker at a special fundraising dinner held by Sydney Chamber Choir at the Grand Pittwater Function Centre, North Ryde RSL Club.

Richard Gill is one of Australia’s pre-eminent conductors, widely admired for his work in opera, on the concert platform and in vocal and choral training. He is internationally respected for his work in music education and in developing young musicians and creating opportunities for them.

Richard is also well known to ABC TV audiences as an entertaining panelist on Spicks and Specks, and as the Chairman of the Jury on Operatunity Oz.

Hosted by ABC Classic FM presenter Julian Day, this was a special opportunity to meet and hear Australia’s wittiest and most engaging music educator sharing his insights on choral singing in the community and in education.

With over 120 guests attending, the dinner made a valuable contribution to raising the necessary funds to support Sydney Chamber Choir’s tour to Spain in October/November 2009, to appear at the 41st Tolosa International Choral Festival as well as giving several recitals.

A big ‘thank you’ to all who attended, bought raffle flags and entered into the fun of the night.
