This program focuses on the Easter themes of sacrifice and new hope in an exploration of startling musical contrasts. At its heart is the Australian premiere of Passion and Resurrection, by leading younger-generation Latvian composer, Eriks Ešenvalds. Heralded in Gramophone magazine as a work of sublime beauty and originality, it reflects on the ancient mysteries of death and new life through a series of poetic statements woven into an impressive tapestry of sound.

Balancing the program are works from ancient masters Gesualdo and Lassus, and contemporary composers from Scotland and Australia. Sydney Chamber Choir combines forces once again with resident solo soprano Belinda Montgomery and chamber orchestra Sydney Camerata, rekindling a successful artistic partnership set in train in 2013.
