Sydney Chamber Choir is opening its 2017 concert series with a sensational voyage through the emotional music of German Romanticism selected by its young guest conductor, Sam Allchurch.
Jonathan Grieves-Smith is guest conducting Sydney Chamber Choir for their Dixit Dominus performance this Saturday. He shares stories of growing up in a world surrounded by music, his love of Baroque repertoire, and the excitement of re-visiting interstate collaborations.
As part of an Sydney Chamber Choir's ongoing commitment to new music and education, we have commissioned three young Australian composers – Josephine Gibson, Olivia Swift and Michael Paton – to write their own brief musical responses to Machaut's Messe de Notre Dame. The composition performances will be interspersed between movements, as part of our Carmina Burana Concert this Saturday, 7.30pm at City Recital Hall.
