2019 Season Program

MUSIC ON MUSIC

Saturday 30 March | 7.30pm
Great Hall, The University of Sydney

When music holds a mirror up to itself, new resonances are revealed. From the purity of Josquin, Byrd and Palestrina to the humanity of Britten’s Rejoice in the Lamb and the sheer delight of Bach’s motet Singet dem Herrn, this program of music about music takes us deep inside the mysterious beauty of melody, harmony and the human voice.

A ROYAL AFFAIR

Saturday 1 June | 7.30pm
Great Hall, The University of Sydney

Masterworks from two Masters of the Queen’s Music: Malcolm Williamson’s visionary Symphony for Voices, a celebration of his native Australia, and three more intimate works by Scottish composer Judith Weir, alongside two of Handel’s grandest royal works: his triumphant Dettingen Te Deum and the coronation anthem Zadok the Priest.

TIME & PLACE

Sunday 10 November | 3.00pm
Verbrugghen Hall, Sydney Conservatorium of Music

A constellation of choral gems linking Canada, the US, Ireland, Latvia and Australia, and gathered around Jonathan Dove’s exquisite song cycle The Passing of the Year, a powerful meditation on the inescapable truth of time.
