The artistic legacy of the late Richard Gill AO, former director of both Sydney Chamber Choir and the Australian Romantic and Classical Orchestra, is honoured in this educational concert series presented by ARCO. Voices & Instruments explores how orchestras and choirs blend sounds and tones into a cohesive whole.
The Australian Romantic & Classical Orchestra’s expert chamber musicians introduce the collaborative interplay of instruments – and their roles and personalities – in Franz Berwald’s Grand Septet, a delightful piece that beautifully balances winds and strings.
Sydney Chamber Choir presents a selection of Australian choral works in this concert exploring some of the many original ways that composers turn voices into instruments, and instruments into voices, to convey the rich imagery and landscape of the natural world and our human experience.
“One of the most memorable concerts Sydney Chamber Choir did was with Richard Gill conducting Carmina Burana in 2016 at City Recital Hall. This concert also featured the NSW Public School Senior Singers and Splash Percussion. It was brimming with joy, and Richard’s crazy, vibrant energy that was well-loved by so many.”
