JS BACH
Lobet den Herrn

A journey deep into the heart of hope. From German Baroque genius Heinrich Schütz, in his 350th anniversary year, comes an extraordinary vision of light in the most harrowing of circumstances: funeral music in the midst of war that stubbornly refuses to submit to despair. Surrounding this rich and profound work like the petals of a flower is the radiant beauty of music by JS Bach, John Rutter, the neglected 17th-century master Franz Tunder, and Australian composer Brooke Shelley, including a new work commissioned by the choir.

“One of the most memorable concerts Sydney Chamber Choir did was with Richard Gill conducting Carmina Burana in 2016 at City Recital Hall. This concert also featured the NSW Public School Senior Singers and Splash Percussion. It was brimming with joy, and Richard’s crazy, vibrant energy that was well-loved by so many.”
